How to Find the Fastest DNS Server Near You and Configure It In Windows

Go through this visual walkthrough to lean how to find and configure the fastest DNS server nearby on your PC:



Part 1 of 2: Finding the Fastest DNS Server near You

Step 1
Go to Namebench's Page and download the latest version of the software for your Operating System.

Step 2
Run the downloaded file and Run the benchmark (May consume some time)


Step 3
The benchmark should finish and a list of optimal DNS servers will be listed.


Step 4
Write down the addresses of the two fastest servers near you and continue to part 2.
Note: We copied the top two in case one of them does not work properly


Part 2 of 2: Configuring the DNS Servers in Windows

Step 1
Open the control panel and navigate to “Network and Internet” and click “Network and Sharing Center”


Step 2
Click your active connection


Step 3
Click Properties


Step 4
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 then click Properties


Step 5
In the Preferred DNS Server, enter your fastest result from part 1
In the Alternate DNS Server, enter your second fastest result from part 1
Click OK!


Step 6
In case you get this, Ignore it.


Step 7
To be sure that everything is up and running, Open command Prompt

Turn Off you windows firewall (ano gamit mo na Anti virus/internet security? Avast gamit ko kahit naka ON so far walang problem.. try nyo OFF then mhotspot.)
Turn on your Laptop Wifi and Share using mHotspot..


How to fix mhotspot not starting problem

Steps:
1. In the drop down box choose “No internet sharing” and start hotspot.
2. After hotspot started , open network and sharing center. Select you active internet connection.(Blue color label)
3. Now, you can status of the internet connection. Click properties button.

4. Now in the new window, choose sharing tab. In the sharing tab, check the box “Allow other users to connect through this computer’s internet connection” and choose “wireless connection 2″ from the list.
4. Click ok.
5. You can now share internet.

Solution to Wifi disconnects frequently on Windows 8

The solution is in two stages.

Stage 1

Step 1: Press the “Windows” button.

Step 2: Type “Power Options”

Step 3: Select which plan you need to modify ( for example, I use Balanced plan on battery and Performance plan on charging)

Step 4: Click on “Change Plan Settings” .

Step 5: Click on “Change Advanced Power Settings”

Step 6: Scroll down to “Wireless Adapter Settings” and expand it, and then expand “Power Saving Mode”

Step 7: Select “Maximum Performance” for both on battery and plugged in.

Stage 2

Step 1: Go to Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center
Step 2: Left click on the connection of yous network (Blue Color Label).
Step 3: This will open the Wi-Fi status box. Select Properties, select Configure, click on the Power Management Tab.
Step 4: Uncheck the box that says “Allow computer to turn off this device to save power”. Select Ok.
The tweak is completed. Restart your system for the effect to be applied.

run command prompt in administrator mode
type "netsh wlan show drivers"
check for "Hosted network supported : Yes"

1. Enable WiFi Adapter From Device Manager

This is the first step you must do when your WiFi card is disabled automatically on your laptop. You will get an option to turn on it back.

To go to Device Manager on Windows 7 laptop, right click on the Computer shown in Start menu and click on properties.

Right click on My Computer and click on properties (XP).

Click on Hardware tab on system properties window.

To go to device manager we need to click on the device manager button. Now we can see all the hardware devices connected to the computer. To see the status of our wireless adapter click on network adapters.

Enable Wireless adapter

To enable wireless adapter, right click on it and click on enable.


Now the wireless adapter is enabled.


In most cases, your laptop will start receiving WiFi. However, rarely some users complain, they face issues with enabling WiFi adapter on their laptop. If you too face such an issue, follow the instructions below.

2: Enable Wireless Card From Network Connections

Another location to turn on disabled WiFi card is Network Connections. Here you will see all the network cards connected to your laptop. All you have to do it to right click on the card and click enable. To do this, follow the steps below.
Go to Control Panel

Click on Network and Sharing Center

Select the icon view to see Network and Sharing center. Now you will see all the available wireless cards.

3: Update Driver

If still the adapter is disabled on your computer, you should update the driver to enable it. To perform it, follow the steps below.
Right Click on adapter in Device Manager

Click on Update Driver Software

4: Unplug the Card

If you are using a USB Wireless card, just unplug it and reconnect it after one minute. Sometimes it will enable the disabled WiFi card. 

5: Disable Internet Security and Firewall

In many technology forums users complain the role of Internet Security programs like ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky Internet Security, Norton etc to disable the wireless adapter. After uninstalling them, their adapter started working fine. As a troubleshooting step I recommend you to disable the security programs installed and check for the issue. 

6: Uninstall Driver and reinstall

If wireless adapter on your computer is still disabled, you should uninstall the driver and reinstall it. It will enable the disabled wireless adapter. To uninstall driver, follow the instructions below. 

Right click on adapter in Device Manager 

Click on Uninstall After uninstall the adapter driver, download the latest driver software from the adapter manufacturer's website and install it.
